Formula:
Y=a(x-h)^2+k
a= shrink, stretch, or flips
h= translates left or right
k= translates vertical
Example:
y=^3
-Left 3
-Stretch by a factor of 2
-Down 4
Step 1. y=^3
Step 2. Y=a(x-h)^3+k
Step 3. Y=2(x-3)^3-4
-since its stretched by a factor of 2, a becomes 2
-x becomes -3 because it moves to the left by 3.
*if the function was moved to the right 3 you would put +3
-k becomes -4 because the function is moved down 4
*if the function was moved up 4, k would be +4
